hold is a design studio based in Vancouver, Canada. It focuses on small run and one of a kind objects of beauty & curiosity that explore the intersections of opposites: old and new, hard and soft, cool and warm, handmade and industrial.

hold has a special interest in sustainable practices, through careful sourcing of material, extensive use of biodegradable fibres, use of recycled/vintage metals and beads, and by producing all work in its Vancouver studio.

Founded in 2009 by Maria Roth, the studio releases small collections of work each year.

In August 2015, small run and one of a kind necklaces will be made available to stores and individuals. The colours are inspired by portrait paintings of the European Renaissance, with sombre hues of grey contrasted with shots of opulent colour. This collection builds on work of the previous three years.

In October 2015, a limited number of the felted wool bowls in two colour combinations will be available for individual purchase on the website.

Thank you for supporting an independent studio practice!
